Southwest Virginia Hot Christmas Meal Project- 2021

For Immediate release: Virginia Oil and Gas Association to provide 1350 hot meals to people in need across Virginia

Abingdon Virginia, December 13, 2021- Last year 2020,VOGA President Lawton Mullins, issued a challenge to Virginia Oil and Gas Association members to help provide 500 hot meals to those in need in 2 counties in SWVA in honor of the Christmas Holidays. That original goal quickly doubled to provide approximately 1000 meals across 4 area counties. This fall, he reissued an expanded challenge to be part of Christmas meal/food projects across the entire Commonwealth. The response has been phenomenal, expanding the project to serve 1350 hot meals to those in need to six communities throughout Virginia.
“The past 2 years has been difficult for everyone, the response and generosity by our members has been amazing, we are excited to be able to offer these meals during this holiday season” said Beth Stockner, the Public Relations Director for the Virginia Oil and Gas Association. Fifteen member companies and several anonymous donors leaped on board to make this project come to fruition to help those in need at a time when it is needed most.

Thank you to the following sponsors for helping to provide these meals to others in need this season; Diversified Oil & Gas Company, Coranado Energy, Dearing Compressors, Appalachian Energy, Gasco, Shalepro, Noah Horn Well Drilling, Enervest, Natural Resource Services, Inc., Drapper Aiden, CNX Resources , Environmental Standards, and Roanoke Gas. Special thank you to Food City for additional assistance in Hurley Virginia.

There will be 5 locations throughout Southwestern Virginia where public Hot Holiday dinner pickups will be offered to anyone that wants to come by any one of the locations. Special meal distributions will also be done in conjunction with the Salvation Army in Roanoke and Meals and Wheels in Charlottesville.
Public locations are listed below on the following dates and times throughout the next few weeks for anyone in need while supplies last.
